This Is Your Professional Home.

The Georgia Housing Officers can trace its history back to State Day, 1989. It was during this year at the Georgia Institute of Technology that the housing personnel from around the state officially formed the Georgia Housing Officers. At this meeting, Linda Wood served as the first president of GHO with CD Merricks, Vickie Hawkins, Carolyn Brooks, and Mary Dee Boemker serving as organizational officers. Beginning in 1998, GHO began recognizing members with the Outstanding Professional in Residence Life Award. With this, the two main purposes of support and recognition for the Residence Life profession were formally established as the primary tenants of the Georgia Housing Organization. GHO now seeks to serve as an association of college housing officers advancing the field of Residence Life and Housing while recognizing best practices within the field and around the state. GHO welcomes all housing and residence life professionals as a resource for collaboration, networking, and communication within Georgia.
